Meet Our Resident Monastics

Our Senior monk at Stream Entering Monastery, born in Vietnam, ordained at Kim Son Monastery in 2000 (Quảng Huy / Thích Nguyên Tịnh), fully ordained in 2005, came to Plum Village in 2014, and received Dharma transmission in 2018. He belongs to the 45th generation of the Linji (Lâm Tế) lineage and the 11th generation of the Liễu Quán branch.

A Vietnamese monk, born 1983. Ordained as a novice at Thiền Lâm Monastery in 1997, fully ordained in 2006 at Đại Tùng Lâm, Bà Rịa. He came to Plum Village in 2014 and received Dharma transmission in 2019.

A Vietnamese monk, born 1980. Entered monastic training in 2008, ordained as a novice in 2009 at Chùa Từ Hiếu, fully ordained in 2012 at Tú viện Vườn Ươm, and received Dharma transmission in 2019. He is the 593rd disciple of Thầy Làng Mai, of the 43rd generation of the Linji (Lâm Tế) lineage and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán branch.

Our senior nun at Stream Entering Monastery. Born in Vietnam, she moved to Australia at 19. She entered monastic training in 1998 at Plum Village, fully ordained in 2001, and received Dharma transmission in 2006. She has served in Plum Village centers in Europe, the US, Thailand, and now Australia. She is the 76th disciple of Thầy Làng Mai, of the 43rd generation of the Linji (Lâm Tế) lineage and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán branch.

A Vietnamese nun, entered monastic training at 19 in 2006 at Bát Nhã monastery, received full ordination in 2010, and became a Dharma teacher in 2016 at Tu Viện Vườn Ươm. She has served at Plum Village centers in France, Vietnam, Thailand, and at Bích Nham monastery, USA, and joined Stream Entering Monastery in August 2024.

A Vietnamese nun, entered monastic training in 2009 at Chùa Từ Hiếu (Cây Sen Vàng lineage), received full ordination in 2012, and became a Dharma teacher in 2019 at Plum Village Thailand. She has served at Plum Village in France and Thailand, and at Bích Nham monastery, USA, and joined Stream Entering Monastery in August 2024.

A Vietnamese-Australian nun, entered monastic training in 2009 at Plum Village, France (Cây Sen Vàng lineage), fully ordained in 2012 in Thailand, and received Dharma transmission in 2018 at Mai Thôn. She is the 598th disciple of Thầy Làng Mai and joined Stream Entering Monastery in August 2021.

A Vietnamese nun, entered monastic training in 2008, ordained as a novice in 2009 at the Root Temple Từ Hiếu, fully ordained in 2012 at the Tình Huynh Đệ Great Ordination, and received Dharma transmission in 2021 at Qua Bờ. She is the 601st disciple of Thầy Làng Mai, of the 43rd generation of the Linji (Lâm Tế) lineage and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán branch.

A Vietnamese nun, entered monastic training at 27 in 2009 at the Root Temple Từ Hiếu (Cây Sen Hồng lineage), fully ordained in 2014, and became a Dharma teacher in 2021. She has served at Plum Village Thailand and Ni Xá Diệu Trạm, Huế, and joined Stream Entering Monastery in August 2024.

A Vietnamese nun, entered monastic training and was ordained as a novice in 2014 (Cây Trắc Bá lineage), fully ordained in 2021 at the Qua Bờ Great Ordination at Deer Park monastery in California, USA. She is the 863rd disciple of Thầy Làng Mai, of the 43rd generation of the Linji (Lâm Tế) lineage and the 9th generation of the Liễu Quán branch.
